With the inconsistent 2022 weather Spring, winter, a bit of sun in the mix, thermographic survey /heat loss surveys in buildings around this period tends to be tricky.

The clear sky doesn't help due to the temperature reflection on the building facade. Cloud cover always a positive with respect to thermal survey in building.

The cold weather and the temperature on April 1st 2022 created a good condition for a thermal imaging building surveys / heat loss survey to be carried out. Not a perfect condition due to only 11% cloud cover.

With increase in energy bills, it is critical for this survey to be done to identify the following;

  • -Cold intrusion points into the dwelling/ building

  • -Heat loss point noted from the outside

  • -Thermal bridging issues around floor wall and roof junctions

  • -A poorly insulated building or insulation missed out during construction

Identifying the above is key to reducing your energy bills by insulating the defects area and carrying our remedial works as required.

The image on this shows a heat loss from (a) building and thermal image shows significant heat loss from the junctions.

A 2 -5 degree change in temperature is significant with respect disrupting thermal comfort in building.
